Behind the Design.
Seaside Craft Brewery is looking for a designer to create eye-catching, wacky labels for their new line of craft beers, that align with their creative company brand identity. For example, they want to include photographs of marine animals, such as fish and seagulls. But have the animals depicted in an unconventional way to make people stop and look at the label more closely.

Creative Process
I started with an image of my pet beta fish that I took myself. Then, she would become a flying fish to make her appear fantastical. Then, finding additional images and masking them in Photoshop to create her wings and background. Finally, to make the found pieces appear to be a cohesive piece, I applied colour changes, levels adjustments, and blend modes in Photoshop.
To keep my original images intact, I applied layer masks to each and duplicated whichever layer needed a filter that would not alter the original appearance forever.
The overall colour scheme of the image consists of shades of pink, blue and purple, keeping the colours analogous. With the primary subject, the fish, being pink and white, I built off her colour tone to influence my decisions with the background and the bubble reflections.
To add to the dreamy quality of the image, I added subtle lens flare effects and sparkling reflections on the fish's body to emphasize the feeling of wonderment.
